Understanding Your DPF
The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is one of the most misunderstood component on the motor vehicle. Many owners and fleet maintenance managers fail to understand that the DPF is not a maintenance free item. They see it as a service as needed component.
The DPF can be a trouble free item when properly maintained . Many think that cleaning the DPF simply consist of baking it at a very high temperature. Truth be told, to avoid shortening the life of the filter, it has to be baked in controlled stages. To get a properly cleaned filter, there are three steps that must be taken before baking the filter and three steps after baking it.

When it come to achieving the proper air flow, no two brands of filters are the same. There is a need to know the manufacturer recommended air flow to have a properly cleaned filter.
When a filter is restored to manufactured specifications, you will have extended cleaning intervals, increased horsepower and reduced fuel cost.
